Compare the mountain bike brakes Mechanical Disc or Hydraulic Disc?

I do not own a bike with Disc Brakes. However, I've been told hydraulic brakes are better & I can see why. Mechanical brakes use a cable, much like standard brakes on a bike. Hydraulic brakes use a fluid, much like brake fluid in a car. This amplifies and helps modulate the brake pressure. Hope that helps. Try before you buy. I'm also told you really need to be "pushing it" to need a bike with hydraulic disc brakes.
