Difference between being blunt and being honest?

i was showing this guy these pictures of us and he said oh i dont care i dont wanna see it right now so i said wow your being very blunt and he said he was being honest what is the difference...i think when you are being more bluntly then honestly saying something you are being more insensitive to the person?
