Is there an exception to paying alimony?

So my boyfriend is going through a divorce. He was married two years ago while he was in jail, within the first 2 months of his marriage his current wife committed adultry and conceived a child who was born within the first year of there marriage. He was un aware of her pregnancy until she gave birth to the child. The only reason he stayed married was because he was in jail for those two years and they are now going through a divorce and am wondering if there could be anyway he wouldn't have to pay alimony?
