Is this guy a jerk or just playing around?

So i have this friend who lately is really starting to get on my nerves. He is never serious about anything and he will joke around with you. Example being he plays guitar so he makes funny songs about his friend or friends being gay. they are funny at first, but then he just keeps going with it and he never stops. Also if u say something witty or funny he has to say something funny even and keeps going with it just to top you. Since he is never serious i don't know if he uses it as a way to be a jerk and get a way with it or am i being to sensitive. Also when we watch a movie or tv show he has to make "witty" or "comical" statements after every scene. It gets annoying cause even tho i have seen the movie or show i'm trying to watch it. It gets annoying when hes talking through the whole thing. Like i get it dude your so much more wittier and funnier then everyone else...shut up now. Am i being to sensitive or is this guy just a jerk
